Important Changes to Repeat Prescription ordering in Cheshire

We are asking all patients to order prescriptions themselves rather than using an automatic ordering system through a pharmacy or a company without you being directly involved.

When patients ordering their medication themselves this is safer and reduces waste.  Over-ordering, stockpiling and unused medicines cost the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds every year - money that we believe can and should go to provide vital health services.  Our NHS needs everyone to work together to make sure only medicines that are needed are requested and used properly.

From 1 December 2016 we are asking all patients to order prescriptions themselves using either on-line ordering through EMIS Access (see reception for details), use the right hand side of the prescription and tick the items you require posting it back to the surgery, drop it into the medical centre using the box on the ground floor, drop it into the surgery using the box on the reception counter or take it to your chosen pharmacy and they will return it to us.

For safety reasons we do not accept prescription orders over the telephone.

You should order when you have 7-10 days worth of medicine left. 

On average it takes 2 working days for a prescription to be ready at the surgery, and another 2 working days for the pharmacy to dispense it.

The options you have for collecting your prescription are not affected.

If you already order repeat prescriptions yourself continue to do this, pharmacies will still be able to collect prescriptions for you or receive them electronically, pharmacies will still deliver medicines to your home.

Take our Friends and Family Test

The Friends and Family Test was initially introduced by NHS England in April 2013 and has been asked in all NHS in-patient and A&E departments across England.  In October 2013 it was introduced to NHS maternity services.

From 1 December 2014 all GP Practices have to introduce the Friends and Family Test.

The Friends and Family Test is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience.

It asks people if they would recommend the services they have used and offers a range of responses. When combined with supplementary follow-up questions, the Friends and Family Test provides a mechanism to highlight both good and poor patient experience. This kind of feedback is vital in transforming NHS services and supporting patient choice.

Part of the requirements of the Friends and Family Tests is that we will have to gather the results and analyse them rapidly to see if any action is required, and we will then make it publicly available.  The results will be published on Gov.uk and the NHS Choices website (www.nhs.uk)

Electronic Prescriptions - VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ

Prescriptions are now available to be sent directly to a chemist of your choice.

Prescriptions will be sent electronically to pharmacies rather than being printed out in the surgery.  This is an exciting move forward and will reduce delays, errors and lost prescriptions whilst also reducing queues in reception.

You can register for this service at the surgery or at a chemist of your choice.

Important Changes to how we handle your personal data (11/09/13)

We will soon be required, under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to supply your personal and confidential medical information to the Health and Social Care Information Centre via an electronic extraction system.

Your postcode or NHS number, rather than your name, will be used to link your records in a secure system so your identity is protected.  Information, which does not reveal your identity, can then be used by others such as researchers and those planning services, to make sure the NHS provide the best care possible for everyone.
