Clinics & Services
Nursing
We have 1 full time and 2 part-time practice nurses and a healthcare assistant. Their roles include health promotion, e.g. dietary advice, screening (cervical smears), family planning and pre-conceptual advice, immunisation of children and adults and performing tests requested by your doctor. The practice nurses can be contacted by phone between 11:30 and 12:00 for general enquiries.
Immunisation Clinic
There is an immunisation clinic on a Tuesday morning (10:30 to 11:30) and all registered children receive an automatic invitation from Child Health Development. Please inform Reception if your child is unable to attend. If they are being brought to Clinic with someone other than a parent or legal guardian, please provide them with a consent slip so immunisations can take place.

Health Promotion and other Clinics
The following clinics are provided; asthma, diabetes, menopause, child health surveillance, minor surgery and wart clinics. Details can be obtained from reception.
Drug Misuse Service
The Barnabas Centre is the first contact point for help with drug misuse. We have a weekly clinic for those on the maintenance programme and have a firm policy on this. No prescription drugs can be issued by any other GP.
Family Planning
A full range of contraceptive services is available, including monitoring of contraception pills, the fitting of caps and coils and emergency contraception.
If you need this please ask for an urg
ent appointment with the doctor or the nurse. (The morning after pill is effective up to 72 hours and the emergency coil can be fitted up to 5 days after). Dr Knowles fits coils and Dr Leigh does contraceptive implants.
Pre-conceptual advice is also available.
Adult and Travel Vaccinations
The practice nurses run these clinics. Appointments should be made in plenty of time. The NHS is only responsible for certain vaccines and others will need to be paid for. Malaria tablets must also be paid for.
Influenza and Pneumonia
Each Autumn we run a vaccination programme for those at risk.
